Gluckschmerz Vs Schadenfreude !

M sure the title of the post must b sounding rather perplexing but believe u me ..tht the concept here in .. wud come in handy many a times if u r an MBA or into any of the ~ rat race n cut throat competitive fields !

Well Somehow really got intrigued by these German Words that aroused my interest enuff to waste an hour on my quest for the holy grail towards their etymological origins (at the cost of my exam prep which cud lead me to a doomed flunkin attempt tomo )!

Nevertheless it was worth the effort!

Schadenfreude as a few of us already know is a tendency to feel a secret of sense of pleasure at the misfortune of others.. kinda like sadistic as we define !
Originating from Schaden (damage, harm) and Freude (joy) , its usage is picking up quite fast in general lingo these days so have come across it a few times ...
However, it ceases to cast its spell once we explore the relatively esoteric concept of
Gluckschmerz :- which signifies a sense of deep discomfort & sorrow at the good fortunes of others !

So semantically the words are just as interesting as their typically tongue twisting German pronunciations!

Guess they are a testament to the inherent competitive human spirit & the tendency to be & have the best!
Maybe such emotional convulsions just act as a vent for our dark insecurities hidden deep down our sub conscious & help in a cathartic release to what cud otherwise have been malicious ! !

M sure Some of us might feel a sense of discomfort at these ironical human tendencies and psychological aberrations inherent and deeply embedded in the our race ! Nevertheless they add a spice to otherwise monotonous regular patterns of life & give a few nutty psychos (the case in point being me :)) something interesting to ponder upon !!
